To deliver significant programmes or projects (often characterised by their complexity, risk, innovation quotient or revenue size) successfully. To meet or exceed contractual commitments;ie time, quality and financial metrics. To impact and influence the client relationship, principally in managing client expectations throughout the delivery process, whilst also searching for and identifying additional commercial opportunities. Working as an intrinsic part of the Account Team with the CSR/Partner to optimise commercial positioning and potential incremental business. To represent Oracle’s best interests with clients at all times.
7 + years experience on Oracle projects is mandatory
Scope
• Reports to Consulting practice manager for functional excellence and performance, and for project delivery escalation;
• Works on particular chosen projects, characterised as above, primarily customer facing, but occasionally internal;
• Will manage large programme or project teams, or multiple small project teams on client sites, using internal and external resource, including offshore teams;
• Works closely with CSR’s, and sometimes partners and third parties;
• Is aligned with appropriate financial metrics and held accountable for their achievement;
• Operates at CEO Director/Steering Committee level with the client and within Oracle.
Responsibilities
• To ensure profitable delivery of project commitment, often entering the process at the bid generation stage, and then taking responsibility for managing the client’s expectation and the leadership of the project delivery;
• To contribute fully to Account Team Strategy and tactics from a deep understanding of market requirements, and new business/ bid development.
• To play a pivotal role in developing the project management function by directly mentoring and coaching less senior project managers, and by contributing knowledge across the practice;
• To simplify and streamline time spent on process;
• To network and communicate as an ambassador of Oracle’s best interests;
• To undertake healthchecks and end of project reviews and provide reports to the Senior Management Team;
Accountabilities
• Ensure designated projects are delivered to contractual obligations in time, cost and quality;
• Provide a strong client relationship which is conducive to incremental business development;
• Evaluate and manage project risk providing early warnings and taking remedial action when appropriate;
• Participate fully in the workings of the Account Team, leading where appropriate to enhance Oracle’s commercial interests;
• Produce high quality project planning deliverables which include estimates, a quality plan, key deliverables, resources required, issues, and roles and responsibilities;
• Conduct end of project reviews, and create end of project reports;
• Ensure projects close appropriately including receipt of Acceptance Certificates;
• Mentor and coach others in the project management function in best practice.
