Position: Regional Manager – North

Division: Sales and Marketing
Location: Abuja
Status: Full Time


A. Scope

The Regional Manager – North (RM) based in Abuja will be responsible for developing and introducing the business strategies required to launch a successful, high quality and competitive product in the North and set up ‘HUB’ operations for the company in Abuja.

B. The Role1. Working closely with the management in Lagos to establish the commercial strategy for the Northern region, identifying opportunities for generating profitable revenue streams across the company network.
2. Planning and executing operational plans, sales and marketing strategies, in order to exceed revenue targets and increase market share, while also ensuring growth and quality of customer base.
3. Managing and maximizing profitability and productivity of the commercial department overseeing all aspects of Operations, Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Affairs, Administration etc for the Northern region and especially for Abuja, as directed by the Lagos office.
4. Developing, recommending and implementing ways of growing distribution channels and market segments for government, corporate and ethnic travel markets to improve the company’s revenues and business mix.
5. Prospecting, penetrating and closing high value (volume) contracts and business agreements.
6. Coordinating and managing multi-function teams of professionals across various business units to ensure cost efficiency and service excellence in the assigned territory.
7. Building and maintaining high level relationships with local, provincial and federal government and VIP / VVIP contacts at various Ministries to ensure best relationships and maximum visibility for the company.
8. Providing weekly and monthly reports, data, research and analysis to management highlighting business performance, competitive landscape and recommendations for increasing revenue.
9. Evaluate customer research, market conditions, and competitor data and recommend strategies to counter them.
10. Working closely with Lagos office to ensure timely implementation of all marketing, advertising and promotional activities.
11. Develop annual business plans and budgets for the assigned territory detailing all plans to meet company revenue objectives.
12. Recruit, train and manage direct reports to improve business efficiency and service delivery.
13. Constantly monitor operations and market conditions to identify opportunities for growth and improvement while continuing to identify partners and contacts to further company objectives.

D. Qualifications & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor or Masters Degree in Management (Marketing, Sales and/ or Business Administration)
• Over 10 years of relevant experience, with proven management and regional sales management exposure for at least 4 years
• Adaptable and flexible to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic fast-paced constantly changing environment
• Extensive experience, market savvy and proven track record of success in marketing, sales achievement and management functions
• Must possess strong qualitative and quantitative skills with advanced problem solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience in the travel and/or aviation industry a definite advantage

E: Technical Requirements
• Good knowledge of the Nigerian market and the West Africa region
• Expert level proficiency in MS Office applications (word, outlook, express, excel, project, power point etc)
• Knowledge of the functionalities of the GDSs, CRS, CRM, Revenue Reporting, BIDT, MIDT, PROS etc would be an advantage
• The flexibility to travel extensively
• Bilingual (English and French) would be an advantage
• Drivers license
