Reporting to the President, the Head of Audit will:
• Be responsible for undertaking a strategic review of the current audit function and assessing the risks and controls across the group and engineering a re – development of the audit function to deliver world class process assurance.
• Establish standards, strategies, policies and procedures in respect of the corporate control environment and corporate governance to international standards.
• Provide the President and senior management with advice and recommendations for improvements in business continuity, control, risk management, corporate governance, technology security, risk management, process assurance and continuing improvement.
• Identify recommendations that add value ensuring maximum payback to the entity or process under review.
• Manage, plan, budget, and establish objectives and determine organisational structure of the Internal Audit department to ensure a efficient audit operation. This includes the development of a high performing audit team.
• Oversee the development of the Internal Audit plan using a risk-based approach in conjunction with senior management, line of business management and external auditors.
• Promote enterprise risk management competence throughout the Group, including facilitating development of enterprise risk management expertise and helping line managers align responses with the group’s risk tolerance framework.
• Coordinate and manage the relationship with external auditors; develop and maintain productive client and staff relationships, Interfacing regularly with senior Group and SBU management; partner closely with the Human Resources function for staff personal development, talent management, career progression and department diversity; ensure a robust training program is in place for the function, teaching, training and coaching staff.Convene monthly functional staff meetings with the objectives of enhancing professional knowledge and engaging in discussions of trends and common issues.

The ideal candidate will have:
• A proven background within an international large company environment or professional firm.
• Manufacturing experience and exposure to the challenging business culture of Africa or another emerging market. A strong team player with inter-personal and inter-cultural sensitivity.
• The credibility and gravitas to influence at senior levels and to drive change around governance issues. A strong team player with inter-personal and inter-cultural sensitivity, able to work well across functions and reporting lines.
• Highly refined analytical skills to quickly review and analyze business processes to identify control deficiencies as well as business operating problems and opportunities.
• Thorough understanding of business strategy, organisational design and other business functions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team skills; ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
• Demonstrable leadership and credibility, capable of generating a high degree of respect and trust, building relationships rapidly with the various operating units and corporate staff.
• The strategic thinking and intellectual capability to manage and contribute to an effective debate and develop Group positions on a range of issues
